Coffee Corner Time! Stop by on Friday morning to catch up with other parents. Thank you to Anna Martinez-Ross and Dave Ross of Martinez-Ross Marketing for sponsoring this month’s Coffee Corner.
Thank you also to the decorating crew for changing seasons on campus and getting the festive spirit going as we head into our school’s various Christmas programs! Volunteers included Gabi Johnson, Tom and Amy Petrow, Robin Riley, and Julia Rebert. Thank you for you time!!
Finally, thank you to all the families that supported the SMA / Sauce Fun-Raiser! It was one of the most successful fundraisers they’ve had, and we earned $300 for our school. Be on the lookout for another dinner-out fundraiser in the new year!

Box Tops: Thank you to the many box tops turned in. The two top grades that brought in the most box tops were Second Grade for Lower School and Seventh Grade for Upper School; they will celebrate with a frozen treat. In second place were Third Grade and Sixth Grade, and third place went to Kindergarten and Fourth Grade. The top three individual high earners were Emma Claire Hoover (2B), Camryn Huerta Rojas (7th), and Josh Burke (6th), each earning a Bookman’s gift certificate. Way to go!

Thank You! A special thank-you goes out to Sandy and Tom Clark and Bison Witches for coordinating a grab-‘n-go lunch for our teachers last Wednesday. While the kids all departed at noon, the faculty stayed for meetings, and SMA provided a lunch to show some love to our wonderful teachers. Lunch is not complete without something sweet, and we’d like to thank our Back-Up Bakers–Julie Pendolino, Julie Zaetta, Michelle Slavin, Carly Flagg, Kristin Salkowski, and Heather Walsh–for baking deserts for our great teachers.
Holiday Greens: The holidays are still a couple of months away, but our annual Holiday Greens fundraiser is currently underway. Final orders are due in the office by November 1. Get a great wreath for yourself (or a loved one or a neighbor or a colleague) and support our school at the same time. Please contact Brigitte Townsdin or Amanda Kukla with any questions.

We also no longer take Labels for Education from Campbell’s since their program just finished. Results will be given on Monday, October 24. Winning grade get a frozen treat, and the top three students who have collected the most Box Tops will get a surprise gift card from a location to be announced on Monday.

The SMA Coffee Corner, sponsored by Holly and Terry von Guilleaume of DSA Vacations, returns this Friday, November 6, beginning at 7:30 a.m. outside the School Office. This SMA Coffee Corner will also be a little sweeter, as there will be an opportunity to purchase baked goods to complement your coffee from our third-grade students.
Speaking of sweets, do you feel overloaded by the aftermath of Halloween? Would an exchange for money seem like a great solution to your excess of treats? Consider donating your candy to Dr. Jaw Orthodontics, who has generously created a “buy-back” program for all your unwanted candy. There will be a representative at this Friday’s Coffee Corner who will offer you $1.00 per pound of candy given. There is a five-pound maximum for submission, and all donated candy will be sent oversees to our military personnel. Now that’s a sweet deal!
The SMA has extended the Holiday Greens Fundraiser deadline to Friday the 6th. If you have not yet purchased your greenery and/or wreaths and wish to, please do so by Friday. Thank you to all the families who have already supported this festive fundraiser!

As a reminder, this sale runs through November 4th. For any questions regarding Holiday Green purchases, please contact our co-chairs, Kim Greene (email@example.com) or Gladys Tom (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Last Friday’s Coffee Corner was a rousing success! Thank you to those who attended, bought baked goods from our third graders, purchased wreaths for the Holiday Greens Fundraiser, and donated candy to the troops via Dr. Jaw’s candy buy-back program! It was great to see so many families supporting our school and enjoying one another’s company. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jaw Orthodontics for sponsoring this month’s Coffee Corner and to Denise Blair for orchestrating the candy buy-back program on campus. A huge thank you also to all who supported the school by placing an order for Holiday Greens and to Kim Greene and Gladys Tom-Lagat, who chaired our fundraiser.
