The dust has settled in the Student Center and Middle School courtyards following our fabulous auction event, Savor St. Michael’s. What an incredible evening we had. The auction gala committee led by Cheryl Terpning and guided by Lonnie Reese was well planned from start to finish. Two hundred friends of St. Michael’s were wined and dined in an area that was transformed into a Mediterranean destination. The number of volunteers who stepped forward to help in so many ways made this event a huge success. As we prepared for the Saturday evening event, I was once again struck by the power of community. Parents, teachers, staff members, grandparents, and students all played a hand in preparing for the gala evening. We did raise funds for St. Michael’s, but more importantly, we raised a community of friends. Among the highlights of the evening for our dinner guests were the heartfelt notes written by our students. Each handwritten note expressed deep appreciation for the school we love and those who support it. When asked to write notes, our students jumped at the chance and were able to beautifully say in their own words the gratitude they felt. Surely it was the icing on the cake for all of us. The final numbers are not yet in, but I would like to express my appreciation to each person who supported Savor St. Michael’s in some way. To all who set up and decorated, those who attended, who sponsored the event, donated items, worked on the committees, helped serve the meal, monitored the silent auction, signed in and signed out our guests, designed, printed, and distributed invitations and programs, as well as those who bid, won auction items, and cleaned up…we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This is an incredible community supporting a fabulous school. Now we can sit back for a moment and savor the memories. The hard work paid off.

Notes from the Head

After months and months of planning and preparation, our auction gala, Savor St. Michael’s, is almost here! Have you bought your tickets yet? This March 22nd event is not to be missed. It promises to be an elegant evening with good friends, good food, delicious wines, and awesome items that will tempt the highest bidder. I, for one, cannot wait to experience yet another spectacular, community event at St. Michael’s. When I first arrived for my introductory visit to our campus, it was the evening of Art Expo. I was so astonished at the number of parent volunteers who worked tirelessly into the evening in order to showcase the artistic talents of our students. Parents and grandparents working together to support the school instantly convinced me that St. Michael’s was a unique place. Our gala event, Savor St. Michael’s, is so very important to our school. Money raised supports the programs which insure that our students continue to have the very best K-8 education available in Tucson. We depend on our families to support our annual events such as the golf tournament, our auction gala, and Art Expo because in supporting these events through attendance and donations, you are supporting our students. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of our volunteers who have contributed countless hours already to make Savor St. Michael’s a big success. Not only will it be a celebration of our students but also a celebration of our community and the friends who support us. Tickets will be on sale at arrival and dismissal through next Friday as well as on-line. I hope to see you there. My tickets are in hand. Are yours? Cheers!
